Huge Internet Outage Across Large Swathes of Africa

South Africa, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Ghana, and Burkina Faso in Africa have been hit by a huge internet outage. In addition, major internet disruptions were ongoing in Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, and Niger.

Currently the outage is being blamed on undersea cable operator failure. Citizens are unable to access the basic internet as well as social media across the vast majority of the affected countries. International bank transfers are also reported to be affected while there are limited international voice calls.
